About

If you’ve stumbled on this site, welcome to my imagination. This where I keep and share pictures from my world. I don't get many visitors, but am always happy when I do. Feel free to save and pass forward anything here that strikes you as interesting, I don’t copywrite my pictures and like to share…but personally dislike social media.

I live between Salinas, California and Cleveland, Ohio. As a retiree I spend most of my time drawing and climbing in my backyard, or wandering around the Big Sur Coast, the Ventana Wilderness, Yosemite, the White Mountains (of California), Death Valley, and the woods outside of Cleveland, Ohio.

For me, drawing evolved from doodling to still my mind, first during class at school, then later during meetings at work. Not sure where the words and acrostics come from. I graduated from Stanford in 1986 with a degree in psychology and UC Berkeley in 1988 with an MSW; and spent most of my adult life as an administrator in public human services. Perhaps those experiences feed the words…that and a pretty wild life rock climbing, mountaineering, and adventureneering.

In 2018, I retired as Director of Social Services for Monterey County after 17 years of responsibility for local welfare assistance and human services. Now I spend most of my time drawing, exploring and dreaming I could be a human wild without the predisposition to domesticate and manicure the maelstrom of coexistence. I don’t think it’s a very frequent transition from staid administrator to trippy artist/adventurer/semi-nihilist…but it was probably more improbable that I spent my middle age as an administrator…at least I tried to fit in for a while :-)

I have a hard time thinking of any of this as art or poetry - probably because so much of my time was spent in the bureaucracy…and, I don’t really have any formal art or poetry experience. Their roots are from doodling in classes when I was young and trying to stay awake. Then starting again by doodling in meetings when I realized I was ready to step aside from my career.

I don’t try to do anything more with these illustrations than post them here and occasionally giving them away. I don’t want it to feel like work. But if you’re intrigued by something, let me know.

If you’d like to reach out, I always appreciate hearing from folks who are interested - elliott.c.robinson@gmail.com.
